Add a new user

When you first logged into the system, an admin user was created. You can add up to 6 additional users and control their access and permissions. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to add a new user and assign their permissions.

Use the recorder (with a monitor and mouse)
  1. Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
  2. At the bottom left of your screen, click the menu icon  .
  3. Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted. 
  4. Go to SystemUsers.
  5. In row 1, you'll see the admin. To add another user, locate a disabled user account.
  6. To enable the user account and set a name and password:
    1. Click the edit icon  .
    2. From the User Enable dropdown, select Enable.
    3. Change User Name to something recognisable.
    4. Enter the user's password in Password and repeat it in Confirm.
    5. Click Save and authenticate with your admin password when prompted.
  7. A new user has no permissions by default. To assign permissions:
    1. Click the permissions icon  .
    2. Select the required permissions. You can refer to the overview at the bottom of this page to see what each permission allows.
    3. Click the Save button.
Use the PC software
  1. At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon  .
  2. Go to SystemMulti-User.
  3. In row 1, you'll see the admin. To add another user, locate a disabled user account.
  4. To enable the user account and set a name and password:
    1. Click the edit icon  .
    2. Click the Enable toggle to activate the user.
    3. Change Username to something recognisable.
    4. Enter the user's password in Password and repeat it in Confirm.
    5. Click OK and authenticate with your admin password when prompted.
  5. A new user has no permissions by default. To assign permissions:
    1. Click the permissions icon  .
    2. Select the required permissions. You can refer to the overview at the bottom of this page to see what each permission allows.
    3. Click the Save button.
Use the smartphone app

To add new users using the smartphone app, the recorder must be running firmware version V8.2 or higher.

  1. Tap the menu icon  .
  2. Go to Recorder settings and select your recorder.
  3. Go to System > Account management > Account management.
  4. The first user you see is the admin. To add another user, locate a disabled user account.
  5. To enable the user account and set a name and password:
    1. Tap the Password button.
    2. Tap the Enable toggle to activate the user.
    3. Change Username to something recognisable.
    4. Enter the user's password in Password and repeat it in Confirm.
    5. In the top-right corner, tap the save icon  .
    6. Authenticate with your admin password when prompted.
  6. A new user has no permissions by default. To assign permissions:
    1. Tap the Policy button.
    2. Select the required permissions. You can refer to the overview at the bottom of this page to see what each permission allows.
    3. In the top-right corner, tap the save icon  .

Permissions overview

When a user has been granted all the permissions below, they can perform the same actions as admin users, except for managing other users. If a user has no permissions, they can log in to the recorder but won’t be able to view live video, play back recordings, or adjust any settings. However, they can still view the system settings.

Log Search

Allows the user to view system logs, including access history and recorded events.
Parameter Grants access to modify system settings, such as camera, recording, or network configurations.
Auto Reboot Enables the user to configure and control automatic system reboots.
Manual Record Allows the user to manually start or stop video recording on specific channels.
Disk management Permits access to manage hard drives, including formatting and checking disk health.
Remote Login Grants permission to log into the system remotely using the app or PC software.
SEQ Control Allows the user to manage the sequence of camera views, typically in a multi-camera setup.
Manual Capture Enables manual snapshots or still image captures from live video feeds.
Audio Grants access to audio settings, including enabling/disabling audio recording.
Change User's Password Allows the user to change their password.
Backup Provides the ability to back up video footage or system settings to an external device. This permission can be configured per camera.
Live Enables the user to view live video feeds from connected cameras. This permission can be configured per camera.
Playback Grants access to review recorded footage. This permission can be configured per camera.
PTZ Control Allows control of zoom and focus functions, or full movement for PTZ cameras. This permission can be configured per camera.
