Get started with the smartphone app
The Bascom app allows remote access to the CCTV system, so you can monitor live video feeds, review recorded footage, and manage settings right from your Android or Apple device. In this article, we’ll guide you through connecting the CCTV system to the internet, downloading the Bascom app, and linking it to the CCTV system.
Step 1: connect the recorder to the internet
To use the Bascom app, your CCTV system needs an active internet connection. Use the included network cable to connect the recorder to your router.
- On the recorder: connect the cable to the Internet or WAN port.
- On your router: connect the other end to a LAN port.
Step 2: download the app
Download the Bascom app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS):
Step 3: set up the app
During the app setup, you will be prompted to grant certain permissions, such as camera access for QR code scanning. We recommend accepting all permissions to ensure the app functions at its best and provides you with the full range of features.
- Open the app. If this is your first time using it, you’ll start in a guided tutorial instead of the main screen, so you can skip steps 2 and 3.
- Tap the menu icon .
- Go to Devices.
- In the top-right corner, tap the add icon .
- Scan the QR code located on the left side of the recorder. Alternatively, click Manual Add to add your recorder manually using the device ID (visible under the QR code).
- Enter the following information to login:
- Device ID: this fills in automatically if you scan the QR code.
- Port: 80.
- Username: the same username as your recorder (default: admin).
- Password: the same password as your recorder (default: admin).
- You should now see the message “Connected” displayed in green. Click the play icon to return to the main view.
Next steps
If you’re logging in with the default username and password for the first time, we strongly recommend changing your password for better security.
