Set up the recorder's buzzer

The recorder can emit a sound notification, known as a buzzer, for specific events, like motion detection, camera disconnection, or recording issues. By default, all buzzers are muted. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to enable different types of buzzer notifications.

Use the recorder (with a monitor and mouse)
  1. Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
  2. In the bottom-left corner, click the menu icon  .
  3. Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted. 
  4. To manage sound notification settings:
    • For motion detection, go to Alarm > Motion Alarm.
    • For camera disconnection or recording issues, go to Alarm > Other.
  5. From the Buzzer dropdown, select the duration for which the sound should play.
  6. At the bottom right of your screen, click Apply to save changes.
Use the PC software

To manage buzzer settings for motion detection:

  1. At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon  .
  2. Go to Alarm > Motion.
  3. From the Channel dropdown, select a camera.
  4. From the Buzzer dropdown, select a buzzer action.
  5. Click the Save button.

To manage buzzer settings for camera disconnection or recording issues:

  1. At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon  .
  2. Go to Alarm > Exception.
  3. From the Event Type dropdown, select the event.
  4. Click the Enable toggle.
  5. From the Buzzer dropdown, select the duration for which the sound should play.
  6. Click the Save button.
Use the smartphone app
  1. Tap the menu icon  .
  2. Go to Recorder settings and select your recorder.
  3. Depending on your recorder type, go to:
    • Motion, or
    • Alarm > Motion > Motion.
  4. From the Channel dropdown, select a camera.
  5. From the Buzzer dropdown, select the duration for which the sound should play.
  6. In the top-right corner, tap Save or the save icon  .
