Add a name and timestamp to the camera feed
This article covers how to enable or disable the name and timestamp overlay. To change the time or timezone, please refer to the article on changing the system time.
You can embed a name and timestamp into the camera feed, making them a permanent part of the video. This ensures you'll always know where and when something happened, even if the footage is downloaded and viewed separately from its original context.
- Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
- In the bottom-left corner, click the menu icon .
- Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted.
- Go to Cameras > General Settings.
- Click the settings icon for the camera you want to adjust.
- In the Name field, enter the desired camera name.
- Select the Show Name checkbox to add the name to the camera feed.
- Select the Show Time checkbox to add the timestamp to the camera feed.
- Click Apply to save your changes.
- Right-click anywhere on the screen to exit the menu.
- At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon .
- Go to Channel > Live.
- From the Channel dropdown, select the camera you want to adjust.
- In the Name field, enter the desired camera name.
- Click the Show Name toggle to add the name to the camera feed.
- Click the Show Time toggle to add the timestamp to the camera feed.
- Click the Save button.
- Tap the menu icon .
- Go to Recorder settings and select your recorder.
- Depending on your recorder type, go to:
- Display, or
- Channel > Display > Display.
- In the Name field, enter the desired camera name.
- Tap the Show Name toggle to add the name to the camera feed.
- Tap the Show Time toggle to add the timestamp to the camera feed.
- In the top-right corner, tap Save or the save icon .
