Configure human and vehicle detection

For the best results, we recommend disabling regular motion detection when using human and vehicle detection.

Human and vehicle detection, also referred to as intelligent or smart motion detection, is an enhanced feature that uses AI to identify humans and vehicles, offering greater accuracy than regular motion detection. Human and vehicle detection is enabled by default on the latest generation Bascom PRO and PLUS cameras, and serves as the foundation for features like intelligent motion recording and push notifications.

Instructions for the recorder (with a monitor and mouse)
  1. Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
  2. In the bottom-left corner, click the menu icon  .
  3. Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted.
  4. Go to Cameras > Intelligent.
  5. Select the Enable checkbox for each camera to activate intelligent motion detection.
  6. Click the settings icon   to adjust a camera's intelligent motion detection settings.
  7. Adjust the settings as needed (refer to the configuration options below).
  8. Click Apply to save your changes.

Configuration options

Enable

Activates intelligent motion detection. Note: regular motion detection must be disabled for this feature to work.

Sensitivity

Defines the confidence threshold required for the AI model to trigger an event when detecting a human or vehicle, adjustable from 0 to 100.

  • 0: low sensitivity; the system will trigger events even when it has minimal confidence that an object is a human or vehicle. This may increase the number of detections but can also lead to more false positives.
  • 100: high sensitivity; the system requires very high confidence that an object is a human or vehicle before triggering an event. This reduces false positives but may miss detections of objects that are partially obscured or less clearly identified.

Default value: 60.

Dynamic Marking

Displays an overlay highlighting the area where an event is triggered.

Snap Mode

Configures how snapshots (used as thumbnails when searching for events) are captured when an event is triggered.

  • Default: captures a snapshot when the target is first detected.
  • Realtime: captures a snapshot when the target is first detected, and another just before the target leaves. Uses the best snapshot.
  • Interval: allows customization of the number and frequency of snapshots. Uses the best snapshot.
    • Snap Number: sets the number of snapshots to be captured for each event. When set to unlimited, it continuously captures at intervals defined by the Snap Frequency.
    • Snap Frequency: sets the interval between snapshots, in seconds.
Min Pixel

Sets the minimum target size (in pixels) for detecting humans and vehicles. Targets smaller than this will not trigger an event. Adjust this value based on the distance between the camera and the target to ensure accurate detection.

Default value: 64.

Max Pixel

Sets the maximum target size (in pixels) for detecting humans and vehicles. Targets larger than this will not trigger an event. Adjust this value based on the distance between the camera and the target to ensure accurate detection.

Default value: 640.

Detection Type/Target

Select the types of targets to detect:

  • Pedestrians.
  • Motorized vehicles.
  • Non-motorized vehicles.
Detection Mode
  • Motion: detects moving targets.
  • Static: detects both moving and stationary targets.
Detection Range/Area

Defines the detection area.

  • Fullscreen: uses the entire view as the detection area.
  • Customize: select a specific area for detection by dragging and resizing the region directly on the screen.
