Automatically back up footage on an FTP server
The cloud feature enables automatic backup of recordings to an FTP server, securely storing them in a separate location. Given the demands of video uploads, a fast and stable internet connection is recommended.
Enable the FTP functionality:
- Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
- In the bottom-left corner, click the menu icon .
- Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted.
- Go to Storage > FTP.
- Select the FTP Enable checkbox.
- Enter the necessary FTP server configuration details:
- Server IP: your FTP server's IP address.
- Port: your FTP server's port (usually 21 for FTP or 22 for SFTP).
- Username: your FTP server's username.
- Password: your FTP server's password.
- Video stream type: Mainstream for high quality or Substream for low bandwidth.
- Max package interval: how often video files are sent to the FTP server. Shorter intervals create smaller, more frequent files.
- Directory name: the folder name where files will be stored (leave blank to use the main folder).
- Encryption mode: FTP for standard or SFTP for secure FTP, depending on your server settings.

Click Test FTP to verify your settings.

Click the Save button.
Set when uploads will be sent to your FTP server:
- Go to Schedule.
- From the Camera dropdown, select a camera.
- On the right, select Motion, IO (alarm) or Intelligent (human and vehicle detection).
- Click or click-and drag on the calendar to add or remove the highlight. Highlighted sections indicate when uploading will be active.
- Optionally, use the Copy button to quickly duplicate a schedule to other cameras.
- Click the Save button.
Enable the FTP functionality:
- At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon .
- Go to Storage > Cloud > Cloud.
- From the Encryption Mode dropdown, select FTP for standard or SFTP for secure FTP, depending on your server settings.
- Click the Enable toggle.
- Enter the necessary FTP server configuration details:
- Server IP: your FTP server's IP address.
- Port: your FTP server's port (usually 21 for FTP or 22 for SFTP).
- Username: your FTP server's username.
- Password: your FTP server's password.

Click Test to verify your settings.

Click the Save button.

- From the Type dropdown, select Motion, IO (alarm) or HD & VD (human and vehicle detection).

- Optionally, use the Copy button to quickly duplicate a schedule to other cameras.
- Click the Save button.
