Automatically back up footage to Dropbox

The cloud feature enables automatic backup of recordings to your Dropbox account, securely storing them in a separate location. Given the demands of video uploads, a fast and stable internet connection is recommended.

Prerequisites

Step 1: enable the Dropbox connection

Launch the PC software and follow these steps:

  1. At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon  .
  2. Go to System > Information and write down the recorder's IP address.
  3. Go to Storage > Cloud > Cloud.
  4. Click the Enable toggle.
  5. From the Channel dropdown, select a camera.
  6. Click the Save button.
  7. Click Activate Cloud; this will open the Dropbox website in your browser.

Step 2: complete Dropbox authorization

Switch to your browser and follow these steps:

  1. If you aren't logged in, log in to your Dropbox account.
  2. Authorize the recorder (DVRCloudStorage) to access your Dropbox account.
  3. After authorizing, you’ll be directed to a page prompting you to enter the recorder’s IP address. Enter the IP address you noted earlier and click Authorize to send the Dropbox authorization confirmation to the recorder.
  4. Authenticate with the recorder’s username and password to complete the connection.

Step 3: create a schedule

Switch back to the PC software and follow these steps:

  1. Go to Schedule.
  2. From the Channel dropdown, select a camera.
  3. From the Type dropdown, select a trigger event: Motion (motion detection), IO (alarm) or HD & VD (human and vehicle detection).
  4. Click or click-and-drag on the calendar to add or remove the green highlight. Green indicates when uploading to Dropbox will be active.
  5. Optionally, use the Copy button to quickly duplicate a schedule to other channels.
