Connect the recorder to the internet
Connecting your CCTV system to the internet is optional, as it is designed to function independently as a complete stand-alone solution. However, if you want to access your system remotely via your smartphone or computer, an internet connection is required. You can connect the recorder to your router using the included UTP cable, or wirelessly with a Wi-Fi antenna, which is sold separately.
Method 1: UTP cable (recommended)
- On the recorder: plug the cable into the Internet or WAN port.
- On your router: plug the cable into a LAN or Ethernet port.
Method 2: Wi-Fi antenna
- Plug the Wi-Fi antenna into any USB port on the recorder.
- Configure the recorder's Wi-Fi settings.
Instructions for configuring the recorder's Wi-Fi settings
- Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
- At the bottom left of your screen, click the menu icon .
- Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted.
- Go to Network > General > Wireless.
- Note: The wireless option will only appear if the Wi-Fi antenna is plugged in.
- Check the Enable box.
- Click Scan to find available networks.
- Double-click your network from the list.
- Enter your network’s password and click Join.
- Temporarily connect the recorder to your router using a UTP cable.
- Open the PC software and log in.
- At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon .
- Go to Network > General > Wireless. Note: the wireless option will only appear if the Wi-Fi antenna is plugged in.
- Click the Enable toggle.
- Click Scan to find available networks.
- Double-click your network from the list.
- Enter your network’s password and click Join.
- Click the Save button.
