Connect a camera using the Wi-Fi adapter
The Wi-Fi Adapter (PWA) allows you to connect a camera to the recorder via your Wi-Fi network. Ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal is available at the adapter's installation location. If the signal quality is insufficient, consider using a Wi-Fi extender to improve coverage.
Step 1: update the camera's network settings
When cameras are initially connected to the recorder, they are configured for an optimized direct connection. This configuration may interfere with the Wi-Fi setup, so it's necessary to update the camera's network settings.
Use a network cable to connect the camera directly to one of the LAN ports on your recorder. Then change the camera's IP address from static to dynamic:
- Move your cursor to the bottom edge of the screen to reveal the menu bar.
- At the bottom left of your screen, click the menu icon .
- Click Settings and unlock the recorder if prompted.
- Go to Cameras > IP Channels.
- In the list of cameras, click the config icon for the camera you want to update.
- From the Type dropdown, select DHCP.
- Click OK to update the camera.
- Click the delete icon to remove the camera from the list.
- Disconnect the camera from the recorder.
- At the top of the application window, click the recorder settings icon .
- Go to Channel > Channel.
- In the list of cameras, click the config icon for the camera you want to update.
- From the Type dropdown, select DHCP.
- Click OK to update the camera.
- Click the checkbox to select the camera from the list and click Delete.
- Disconnect the camera from the recorder.
Step 2: connect the Wi-Fi adapter to your network
The Wi-Fi Adapter can be connected to your network in two ways:
- Using the WPS button (quick and easy setup).
- Manual configuration (for routers without WPS support).
- Plug the adapter into a power outlet and connect the camera to the adapter.
- Press and hold the WPS button on your router for 2 seconds. If your router has a software-based WPS button instead of a physical one, consult your router's user manual for instructions on how to activate it.
- Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the adapter for 2 seconds.
- The WPS button on the adapter will start flashing. Once the connection is successful, the WPS button's light will remain steady. This indicates the setup is complete.
Configure your computer:
- Connect the adapter to a power outlet.
- Use the network cable to connect your computer directly to the adapter.
- Adjust the IP configuration on your computer so it can communicate directly with the Wi-Fi adapter for manual setup:
- Click the Windows start button, search for View network connections, and open the best match.
- Right-click the active Ethernet connection and select Properties.
- From the list of items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Click the Properties button.
- Select Use the following IP address and enter the following details:
- IP address:

- Subnet mask:

- Default gateway:
